Youngest ODI half-centurion Kushal Malla could be Nepal’s new opener

Nepal National Cricket team coach Jagat Tamata hints that there is the possibility of Kushal Malla to introduce as a opener in Asia Cup Qualifier. Nepali team has been in the search of a perfect opening pair. However, is yet to find one.

Nepal has already left for Thailand to play the ACC Men’s Eastern Region 2020 which is also a gateway to the Asia Cup. Before leaving for Thailand, Tamata said, ” Preparation is good. We are mentally prepared and ready for the challenge. Our target is to bring the trophy home.”

Tamata was handed the responsibility of the National teams few weeks back after the resignation of Umesh Patwal from the post. He mentioned that he is very happy after he was given the responsibility.

On the query of Nepal’s opening partnership. Tamata replied,” There is possibility of Kushal opening Nepal;s inning. However, the final decision will be made after studying the pitch condition in Thailand. We are training him to open the inning for Nepal.”

Malla, who made the ODI debut against USA few weeks ago made a half-century and became the youngest player to do so, beating Nepal’s Rohit Kumar Paudel’s record.
