Top 5 highest run scorer for Nepal in T20 International

Nepal is playing the second round of their ICC World T20 Qualifiers that is starting from 22nd July in Singapore. Nepal is currently in Malaysia, busy in training where they also played a T20I series against Malaysia which Nepal won 2-0.

The Nepali team will leave for Singapore directly from Malaysia on 20th July. Nepal will compete against Malaysia, Singapore, Qatar, and Kuwait with only the winner making it to the next round.

Nepal had played a total of 17 T20 International matches. The first T20I match was back in the 2014 World Cup in Bangladesh against Hong Kong. The highest score Nepal had made in those 17 matches is 173 against Malaysia and the lowest in 53.

5. Subash Khakurel

Arguably, one of the best wicket-keeper batsmen of Nepal national cricket team, Subash Khakurel holds the position 5 in our list. However, at present, he is struggling to retain his form back after a long-term wrist injury. He had made 112 runs in 8 T20 international matches. He was also the first Nepali batsman to collect first run in the T20 international match.

He had a strike rate of 80 and an average of 14. Khakurel is also the first Nepali batsman to score a T20I half-century which he did against Afghanistan in 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.


4. Sompal Kami

One of the fastest bowlers among the associate nations, Sompal Kami had already established himself as an all-rounder. Therefore, he is the fourth-highest run-scorer for Nepal. He had made 113 runs, batting in 11 innings and among those, more than half times he came as tail-enders. Therefore, he also holds the record of the highest run scored in T20I as a 10th batsman. He had made 40 runs in a match against Hong Kong.

He had the strike rate of 114 which includes 10 fours and 4 sixes.


3. Gyanendra Malla

The vice-captain of Nepal national team, Gyanendra Malla is the third-highest run-scorer for Nepal in T20Is. Despite being out of form in recent years, Malla had managed to sneak to the list. He ha made 202 runs in 16 innings with an average of 12.62. He is yet to get a T20 international half-century.

Malla had made his personal highest run of 48 which was against Hong-Kong in 2014. After that, Malla is yet to score big runs in the T20 format. His form began to decline when he was brought to the opening pair.


2. Sarad Veswakar

Sarad Veswakar, the saviour, is the second-highest run-scorer for Nepal in T20 international. He had made 255 runs in 12 innings with an average of 23.18. He had the strike rate of 99 and had 20 fours and 6 sixes in his name. Though he failed to score high runs in a match, he has been doing really well with an average score.

In the last over thriller against Hong Kong in T20 World Cup 2014 qualifiers, Veswakar blasted 17 runs and guide Nepal to the World Cup. Similarly, he continued his form in the World Cup as well where he had scored 14, 40 and 37 runs in 1st, 2nd and 3rd match. He also batted very well in recently played T20I series against Malaysia.


1. Paras Khadka

Who could be at no. 1 ? Of course, we all knew that. Our leader, our captain Paras Khadka lead the list of highest run scored by Nepali batsmen in T20 international matches. Paras Khadka had batted in 16 innings among 17 T20I Nepal had played. He had made 399 runs with a mighty strike rate of 117 which includes two half-centuries as well. It included 37 fours and 9 sixes.

Paras Khadka had made 41 runs in his debut T20I match against Hong Kong back in 2014. He got his first T20 international half century against Netherlands. Similarly, he got his second half-century recently against the Malaysia where he made 86 runs not out. In both T20I matches against Malaysia, Khadka came as opener and is expected to continue with the same in T20 qualifiers as well.
