T10 League 2021: One Step Towards International Exposer

The fourth edition of Abu Dhabi T10 League will see four Nepali cricketers representing their respective teams. However, Paras Khadka won’t be seen as a player this time. For the first time, more than two Nepali cricketers will be representing in foreign franchise based league.

Back in 2016, Nepal’s then young leg spin sensation Sandeep Lamichhane was picked up by Kowloon Cantoons for the Hong Kong T20 Blitz, making him the first Nepali to play in franchise based foreign league.

After his first pick in Hong Kong, it paved way for more franchise leagues. After that, Lamichhane became the first Nepali cricketer to play in Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League and many more leagues.

In early 2019, Nepal’s pacer Sompal Kami got chance to taste the foreign franchise league as he was picked up by Winnipeg Hawks in Global T20 Canada. However, Kami merely got chance after his disappointing start. Nevertheless, he became the first Nepali to win a franchise league outside home.

Similarly, at the end of 2019, Nepal’s fan favorite Paras Khadka was selected by Team Abu Dhabi for the third edition of T10 League. However, he only played a match in the entire league and wasn’t able to leave his mark in the league.

For the first time, more than two Nepali players will be playing in a foreign based franchise league excluding Sandeep Lamichhane. Fast bowler duo Sompal Kami and Karan KC, teenage senssation Kushal Malla will be playing in the league while former Nepal skipper Paras Khadka will play the role of Emerging Talent Mentor.

Sompal Kami will play from Maratha Arabians, Karan KC from Pune Devils and Kushal Malla will be under the mentership of Paras Khadka in Team Abu Dhabi. Kushal Malla will be sharing the dressing room with the Universal Boss, Chris Gayle and even could open with the boss.

This is the first foreign league for both Kushal Malla and Karan KC. Sompal Kami played his first league back in 2019 in Global T20 Canada.

In recent time, both the pacers, Sompal and Karan has introduce themselves as bowling all-rounders with capacity of big hits at the middle order as well as at the end. Karan KC is famously know for his match winning knock against Canada which sealed the place for Nepal in World Cup Qualifiers. After that inning, KC has rescued Nepal in many occasions.

Similar is the case with Sompal. Sompal Kami is also known for his aggressive batting at the end. The fastest bowler of Nepal and once a fastest bowler among the associates, Kami can be great inclusion in the T10 League.

The most impressive inclusion in the Abu Dhabi T10 League is the teenage sensation Kushal Malla. Malla is just 16 years old and he is the youngest batsman to score an ODI Half Century. The batting all-rounder Malla will be under the mentorship of Paras Khadka, therefore we can accept more of him in the coming league.

After Sandeep Lamichhane’s successful entry in international franchises, these three players can be the next to do and will pave a pathway for other youngster in the country. There are many young talents back in Nepal who are thirsty for international exposure.

Players like, Sushan Bhari, Rashid Khan, Lalit Rajbanshi, Abhinash Bohara, Pawan Sarraf and many more are the players waiting for their turn.
