The Cricket Australia has released the complete list of 593 overseas players, including 432 men and 161 women, who have nominated for the upcoming BBL|14 and WBBL|10 drafts.
The nominations feature a star-studded lineup of international fast bowlers, with Big Bash favorites like Haris Rauf and Jofra Archer among the top names.
Players from 30 countries have put their names forward for selection, representing not only major cricketing nations but also emerging cricketing regions such as Hong Kong, Uganda, Japan, Greece, Indonesia, and Romania. The drafts are set to take place this Sunday for the Weber WBBL|10 and KFC BBL|14.
Among the 593 overseas players, only two players are included in the draft. Nepal’s spin duo of Sandeep Lamichhane and Lalit Rajbanshi are the only two names that will be called during the BBL 2024 draft in September 1.
Big Bash is not a new league for Sandeep as he has already played number of seasons. Lamichhane has represented two teams during his 4 seasons with the BBL. He has played from Melbourne Stars alongside Glen Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. However, he later moved to Hobart Hurricanes.
In the last four seasons, Lamichhane has played 43 matches and has 48 wickets in his name.
Meanwhile, Lalit Rajbanshi have been never a part of any foreign franchise league. With very limited spin option in Australia, most of the foreign spinners are given more priority and Lalit has got his chance. He has been exceptional with Nepali team and will be looking to attract some contracts from the Australian franchises.
In his 21 T20 Internationals, Lalit has grabbed 18 wickets with brilliant economy of 6.4. His best bowling figure is 3/6 in the T20Is.
