Italian Serie A set for June 20 Return

With Premier League looking for June 17 return, football fans around the world are boosted yet again by the announcement of Serie A return. According to the sports minister of the Italy Vincenzo Spadafora , the top tier league of the nation will resume from June 20.
The league was suspended for more than three months due to the Covid-19 outbreak around the globe. The league was suspended for indefinite time on March 9.
The Italy government has directed not to conduct any sporting activities until June 14. Therefore, the date was confirmed for 17th. Earlier, the Italy Football Federation has planned to resume the league from second week of June. Despite the resumption date coming late, most of the Serie A teams has started their training about a month ago.
There are still 12 round matches left in the league. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus is currently at the top of the league with 63 points followed by Lazio in second with 62 points.
Serie A will be the fourth of Europe’s top five domestic leagues to restart following the Bundesliga, which resumed on May 16, and La Liga and the English Premier League, which are also due to get under way again in June.
However, among the top five European leagues, the French league was called off and Paris Saint-Germain was crowned Champions with 10 games left to play. Similarly, the Belgian league was also called off without any winner.
