Nepal’s leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane will be eyeing another rare record of fellow leg spinner Rashid Khan as Nepal takes on Mongolia and Maldives in the upcoming Asian Games.
Lamichhane is very close to 100 T20 International wickets, just 15 away. He has 85 T20I wickets in 44 matches and if he get the remaining 15 wickets in less than 9 matches, then he will leave Rashid Khan behind the record of fastest to 100 T20 International wickets.
Sandeep Lamichhane eyes another Rashid Khan’s Record
Rashid Khan is currently the fastest bowler to reach 100 T20 international wickets. He did it in just 53 matches. Now, Sandeep Lamichhane has 8 matches to take 15 wickets and get this record in his name.
Nepali cricket team hasn’t played a T20I matches for over a year. However, Nepal will be competiting in the Asian Games this month and Nepal will be playing against comperatively very weak opponents.
Mongolia are debuting in the international cricket whereas, Maldives are yet to establish themselves as a strong team. Therefore, Sandeep has great opportunity to grab as much wickets as possible against these two teams and make it easier for the remaining wickets.
Lamichhane recently broke the record of fastest to 100 ODI wickets, which was also on Rashid Khan’s name previously. Lamichhane reached this feat in front of home crowd in TU Cricket Ground.
