Sagar Thapa wishes to retire in National team jersey

Nepal’s former National football team skipper wishes to retire from the football career in the National team jersey. Thapa, along with five others were cleared of their alleged match-fixing charges by the supreme court.

Featuring in the Kantipur TV’s famous show, Its My Show, Thapa expressed his desire to wear the national team jersey for the last time.

Sagar Thapa, who was considered to be one of the successful skipper in Nepali football was alleged with Match fixing charges back in 2015. Soon after the charges, Thapa along with goal keeper Ritesh Thapa, defender duo Sandip Rai and Bikash Singh Chettri, Anjan KC and Physio Dejin Thapa were banned from any football activities.

The players, however, are under the suspension by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and still can’t get involved in international fixtures.

Therefore, the former skipper wants the ANFA to speak with the AFC regarding the clarification by the supreme court and clear off their ban on international football.
