Qatar Airways ‘A’ Division League starting from Saturday

The much awaited football league in Nepal, ‘A’ Division Martyr’s Memorial League is starting from 14th December at Dashrath Stadium.

Machhindra Club will take on the Brigade Boys Club (BBC) in the opening match which is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm.

There are total of 14 clubs in the league participating for the winning purse of 50 lakhs. The clubs must register a 18-men squad with at least 4 foreign players. Among those 4 players, one must be from South Asia region.

All the matches will be played at newly reconstructed Dashrath Stadium and ANFA Complex Ground. Previously, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) had planned to play the matches in around 5-6 venues. According to the fixtures released by the ANFA, the league will be wrapped up in around two months. This was what many football fans were complaining about. The fans were wishing for at least 6-months long league.

Qatar Airways partnered with ANFA for the League

On Thursday, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) signed a deal worth 150,000 US$ with the Qatar Airways. After the partnership, the league is now called Qatar Airways ‘A’ Division Martyr’s Memorial League. ANFA president and Qatar Airways rep signed in an MoU at ANFA complex on Thursday.
