The English league is all set to restart from June 17 after the league was halted for around 3 months. Premier League, along with all the sporting activities around the word was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The decision to resume the league just came after all the shareholders voted unanimously to resume contact training on Wednesday. In a meeting on Thursday, the shareholders gave green light to restart the season.
According to the various sources, second placed Manchester City will host Arsenal and Aston Villa will host Sheffield United in the first day of the restart. Those fixtures were left to play to complete 29 matches for each of the teams. The day will be followed by the remaining fixtures.
Premier League aims to complete the league by August 1. After the completion of the league, the FA will host the FA Cup final on August 8.
So far 12 people have tested positive for coronavirus after 2,752 tests across the league. Premier League players and staff will continue to be tested twice a week, with the capacity increased from 50 to 60 tests per club for the fourth round of testing.
