Preliminary Squad announced for SAG, 5 senior players included

The U-23 team head coach Bal Gopal Maharjan announced the preliminary for the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG). The SAG football will be played by an Olympic team with 3 senior players allowed in the team.

Maharjan’s preliminary squad includes 45 players, among which 5 of them are senior players (players above 23 years old). 25 players turned up to the training on the first day. Meanwhile, the national women’s football team had already begun the training.

All the 5 senior players are from National team who are the regular member of the team. However, among those 5 only 3 will be selected for the final team. The five senior players are goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong, Bikram Lama, Rohit Chand, Sujal Shrestha, and Nawayug Shrestha.

Nepal is the defending champions of the SAG football. Nepal had defeated India in the last edition’s final to win the SAG gold medal in football after more than two decades.

Goalkeepers: Kiran Chemjong, Roman Rasaili, Arpan Karki, Deep Karki, Dev Limbu, Pradeep Bhandari, Abishek Baral.

Defenders: Rohit Chand, Ashim Bhusal, Bishwash Udas, Ananta Tamang, Dinesh Rajbansi, Bikash Khawash, Tshiring Gurung, Gaurav Budathoki, Rajan Gurung, Roman Limbu, Suman Aryal, Amit Tamang.

Mifielders: Hemant Thapa Magar, Roshan Pahari, Sesehang Angadembe, Nitin Thapa, Tej Tamang, Arik Bista, Aruj Singh, Bikram Lama, Ashok Thapa, Bijaya Shrestha, Sujal Shrestha, Dipesh Ale Magar, Anjan Bista, Sunil Bal, Sushant Shrestha, Ram Chandra Wajee.
