Nepali Team Gearing up for Asian Games


Nepali cricket team is gearing up for the Asian Games which is scheduled to start from September 23 in Hangzhou, China.

Nepal’s head coach Monty Desai has already arrived Nepal and started the closed camp with 15 players. There are three new faces in the T20 squads that played in the Asia Cup 2023.

Bowler Abhinash Bohara, middle order batter Binod Bhandari and all-rounder Bibek Yadav are called in the squad whereas, Aarif Sheikh, Aarjun Saud and Bhim Sharki miss out.

Nepal are in group B along with Mongolia and Maldives. Mongolia are palying their first ever international tournament and they will play their first ever match against Nepal in September 27.

Nepal, currently ranked 17th in T20Is, has a remarkable history among Associate Nations, having played 57 T20Is and reaching as high as 11th in the rankings. However, Nepal hasn’t played a single T20I match since a year. They have been playing 50 overs matches all over the year.

Meanwhile, Maldives, standing at 80th in the ICC rankings, brings its 20 T20Is of experience to the table.
