Nepal to Play Iraq in International Friendly

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday confirmed the FIFA international friendly against the strong Asian power house Iraq.

The ANFA accepted the proposal put forwarded by the Iraq Football Association to play the friendly match ahead of the FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup qualifier matches.

The match will be played at at Basra International Stadium on May 29.

Nepali national team has previously played three times against Iraq with Iraq emerging as victors in all three occasions. The latest of the match was in April, 2001 when Iraq defeated Nepal 4-2 in World Cup Qualifier.

After playing the friendly match, Nepal will travel to Kuwait to play the remaining three matches of FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Nepal will play against Chinese Taipei on June 3, against Jordan on June 7 and against Australia on June 11.
