Nepal to play home match away from ‘Home’ in FIFA WC Qualifiers

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has finally made a decision regarding Nepal’s home match of FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers. They have decided to conduct Nepal’s first home match at Kuwait City, Kuwait which will be against Kuwait itself. Which means, Nepal will play their both home and away match in Kuwait.

The decision was made following the exco meeting held on Tuesday. Nepal is taking on Kuwait on 5th September.

ANFA was obliged to play the match away from home due to the unavailability of any international standard stadium at home. Country’s only International standard stadium Dashrath Stadium was destroyed by Earthquake a few years back and the renovation work is yet to be completed.

The other stadiums in the country, the Halchowk Ground and ANFA Complex ground don’t meet the standard to host the match. Therefore, the ANFA was searching for the alternative. However, the good news is that Nepal will host Chinese Taipei, Jordan, and Australia at Dashrath Stadium.

ANFA has written to AFC about its decision and awaits approval from them.
