Nepal to compete in ACC Emerging teams Asia cup 2019

Nepal national cricket team will feature themselves in the ACC Emerging teams Asia cup 2019 which is scheduled from November 12-24 in Bangladesh. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed Nepal’s participation for the tournament.

The Emerging Teams Asia Cup is a eight-team 50-overs tournament. Full Members Afghanistan Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play their respective under-23 teams (three overage players allowed in the XIs) and the Associates will be able to select their full national sides.

Despite Nepal having ODI status, Nepal’s chances of playing the tournament was slim as Nepal finished outside the top 3 at the Asia Cup Qualifiers last year. Hong Kong, Oman and UAE were the possible representatives from the associate side. However, the Asian Cricket Council picked up Nepal over UAE.

Nepal are grouped in group B along with India, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. Group A comprises of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Oman.
