Nepal T20 League – An Official T20 Franchise League in Nepal.

Nepal T20 is an official T20 Franchise league by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). The league was announced for the first time in 2022 and the inaugural edition will start from December 12 and the date is already sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Former Australian international cricketer Brett Lee was announced as the mentor of the NepalT20 and he also launched Ssixer, the official broadcasting partner of the Nepal T20 League.

A total of six city based franchise will be involved in the inaugural edition and the teams are as follows:

  • Janakpur Royals
  • Kathmandu Gurkhas
  • Lumbini All Star
  • Biratnagar Super Kings
  • Pokhara Avengers
  • Far West United

The league was scheduled to take place from 24 September to 22 October 2022. However, it was postponed by the Cricket Association of Nepal on September 15, 2022 after the Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order to postpone owing to the upcoming elections.

All the matches will be played at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur and will be a double round-robin format.

Nepal T20 League – Players Auction

Player draft of the Nepal T20 2022 was conducted in September 10 and 11 behind the closed doors.

With number of national and international players registering for the draft, only 96 players were drafted into the final squad.

Each of the six franchises consist of 11 Nepali players and 5 overseas players. Most of the overseas players are from Sri Lanka.

Some big names like Carlos Brathwaite, Mohammad Hafeez, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Ben Cutting, Rahkeem Cornwall, Adam Lyth will be the part of the inaugural edition of Nepal T20.

Players like Isuru Udana, Dinesh Chandimal, Kushal Perera, Harry Tector, Chamika Karunaratne, Paul Stiriling, Sikandar Raza, Hashmatullah Shahidi remain unsold in the draft.

Ssixer is the official broadcasting partner of the Nepal T20 and will be available in official app as well as in the official website.

The official TV Channel to broadcast the league is yet to be announced and it is expected that the coverage will be made available in more than 50 countries around the world.
