Nepal Sealed T20I Tri-Nation Series with Massive Victory
Nepal defeated Netherlands by 142 runs to seal the Tri-Nation T20I Series at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Nepal displayed a solid all-round performance to register a huge margin win over the strong Dutch side.
Chasing the target of 239 runs, Netherlands were all out in 96 runs with more than 2 overs left.
Losing the toss, Nepal were invited to bat first in the pitch where, chasing team has been benefitted in last couple of matches. However, Nepal posted a mammoth total, showing no mercy on any of the Dutch bowlers. Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel once again gave a quick start to Nepali side after making quickfire 30 runs in first 2 overs.
Aasif was caught on 16 runs but that didn’t stopped Nepal’s run scoring form. Skipper Gyanendra Malla made 33 runs in 19 balls whereas Kushal Bhurtel smashed his 4th T20I Half-Century in his first 5 T20I matches. Bhurtel was out after making 77 runs.
Similarly, Kushal Malla also got his maiden T20I half-century after making 50 off just 24 balls. Vice Captain Dipendra Airee made it sure that the Dutch side will get a huge target after he smashed 48 runs in just 18 balls.
In the second inning, Netherlands never looked like they will chase the target as they lost their opener in the second over after a brilliant runout from Aasif Sheikh. The Dutch side, then lost their wickets in regular interval.
Karan KC grabbed 3 wickets, Sandeep Lamichhane and Kamal Singh Airee grabbed 2-2 each. Abhinash Bohara also got his name on wicket takers list.
Sandeep Lamichhane finishes as the highest wicket taker of the series with 13 wickets in his name. Similarly, the debutant Kushal Bhurtel finishes as the highest run scorer with 278 runs which includes 4 half-centuries.
