Nepal plays draw against higher ranked Chinese Taipei

Nepal football team held the home team Chinese Taipei in 1-1 draw in their second International friendly after playing against Malaysia.

Nepal scored in the second half after trailing in the first half. It was Abhishek Rijal who scored his first International goal, prevented yet another defeat of the team and also ended the goal drought of Nepali team. Nepal ended the goal drought in the seventh match.

In the 40th minute of the match, the home side took the lead through Wu Chun-Ching’s goal. However, Nepal’s teenage sensation Abhishek Rijal scored in the 70th minute to level the score. He was the only forward in Nepali team today in Nepal’s 4-5-1 formation. This was the first time that Rijal had been included in the starting XI.

Nepal head coach, Johan Kalin had made few changes in the teams that faced Malaysia which they lost 2-0 few days earlier. Skipper Biraj Maharjan, along with striker Nawayug Shrestha were dropped and were replaced by Ajit Bhandari and Abhishek Rijal. In the absence of Maharjan, goal-keeper Kiran Chemjong had wore the armband.

In the last four friendly matches played, Nepal had scored lost two and drawn two.
