Nepal looking for back-to-back gold in SAG Football

Nepali football team is taking on Bhutan today at Dashrath Stadium in the final match of South Asian Games Football. This is the second time in two editions that Nepal is playing the final of the event. In last edition, that was held in India, Nepal had defeated India 2-1 in the final to clinch the gold medal in football after around 23 years.

Therefore, Nepali team will be now eyeing for yet another gold medal in football. Nepal and Bhutan qualify to the finals as they finished top two in the round robin league. Bhutan won all the three matches except losing to Nepal in the round robin league.


Bhutan lost 4-0 to Nepal in their round robin league. However, they defeated Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives to book their place in the final.Similarly, Nepal are undefeated till now. Nepal defeated Bhutan, Maldives and Bangladesh and played a 1-1 draw against Sri Lanka in an intense match.

Another interesting thing is that, Bhutan is playing their first ever international final match in football. In previous occasions, Bhutan had never been to the final of any tournaments. Therefore, the Bhutanese side will surely give their best in the final match.
