Nepal gets Automatic Qualification into ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Global Qualifier

Nepali Cricket team was handed an automatic qualification to Global Qualifiers for the upcoming ICC T20 Cricket World Cup in Australia.

In a new qualification module announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Nepal along with Zimbabwe, UAE and Hong Kong are through to the Global Qualifiers.

It was determined after considering the ICC T20 Rankings of the respective teams. This means Nepal won’t be playing in the Regional Qualification round.

The Australia World Cup which was expected to be played in 2020 will see a total of 16 teams competing for the mega event. The corona virus pandemic pushed the event to 2022.

According to ICC, a total of 11 Regional based qualifications will be conducted. Eight teams from those regional qualifications will made it to the next round.

The regional qualification will begin from 2021.
