Nepali cricket team is playing their second T20 Cricket World Cup after a decade. Back in 2014 in Bangladesh, Nepal featured in their first ever T20 Cricket World Cup where Nepal bagged two wins out of three matches.
Nepal defeated Afghanistan and Hong Kong in the course and lost to Bangladesh to finish just second in the group behind Bangladesh. Bangladesh advanced to the super six at that time leaving Nepal behind on net runrate.
Since then, Nepal failed to qualify for the tournaments before making it in the 2024. Nepal booked their place in the mega event of the shorter format of the game after defeating UAE in the semi-final of the Asia Regional Finals at Mulpani Cricket Ground.
The Rhinos are grouped in Group D in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024. The group consists of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. They will be playing their first ever matches against South Africa and Sri Lanka in any format of the game in senior level.
Nepal Fixtures in ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024
Nepal will open their campaign against the familiar opponent Netherlands on 4th June. The Nepal will play their first ever match against Sri Lanka on 12th June before taking on the strong South Africa on 14th June.
Nepal will sign off their Group D campaign with a match against Bangladesh on 16th June.
