The former Indian Cricketer Umesh Patwal has been appointed as head coach of Nepal national cricket team, confirmed the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday. He has already been involved in Nepali cricket in past days.
Patwal worked as a batting consultant of Nepali team in Nepal’s ODI and T20I series last year. Nepal’s batting had improved a lot during that time. Patwal had also been a part of Afghanistan squad that play the World T20 in 2014, 2014 Asia Cup and 2015 World Cup.
Currently, there is no any active cricket board in Nepal, their only board, The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is under the suspension of the ICC. Therefore, ICC is completely handling the team Nepal. They are managing the tours for Nepal, warm-ups and many more.
This time as well, ICC has appointed the coach. Umesh Patwal was the choice of ICC itself and every team members are happy with his appointment. Till now, Jagat Tamata was in charge of the National team as well. National team skipper Paras Khadka is happy with his arrival in the team. For now, he has signed the contract for a year with $7000 monthly wage.
