Nepali Cricket has already appeared in the ICC T20 World Cup in Bangladesh back in 2014 where Nepal impressed with two wins out of three group matches. However, the is the first and last time till now that Nepal has played a T20 World Cup.

The remaining two spots will be decided from the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, from where the Associates teams like Nepal have chance to qualify for the World Cup. The interesting thing is, at least four full member nation will have to play this qualifiers, so the the associate nations can get much needed exposure.

ICC Cricket World Cup Super League is a league comprising all the Test Nations (Full Member) and the winner of ICC Cricket World Cup League Championship (2015-2017). Nepal has finished 7th in that league and was relegated to Division 2.

A total of 13 teams are in the CWC Super League and among those 13, the top eight will directly qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The bottom 5 teams will relegate to ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.

Nepal will get chance to play against at least two of these big Test Nations: Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies (If Nepal qualify for the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.)

ICC Cricket World Cup League Two consists of the remaining nations with the ODI Status. Apart from the 13 teams in the Super League, seven other nations have the ODI Status and CWC League 2 comprises of those seven nations.

Papua New Guinea, United Arab Emirates and Unites States of America are relegated to the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers Play-off and will be joined by either Nepal or Namibia.

ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers is the second chance for the teams which finish at bottom four in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. The bottom four teams from the League Two will join the two regional champions (Canada and Jersey).

The top two teams from those six teams will qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.

Till now (March 7), four teams out of 10 are confirmed of ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers spots. There are:

> Netherlands and Zimbabwe (Two of the Bottom five from the ICC CWC Super League)

> Scotland and Oman (Two of the top 3 from the ICC League 2)

> Remaining Six

  • Three teams from: South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Ireland (Bottom 5 of Super League)
  • One From: Nepal and Namibia (Top three of League 2)
