Adil Rashid, having featured in just one game during the New Zealand series due to cramps, has received the green light to be part of the World Cup squad. On the other hand, Mark Wood, dealing with a sore heel since the culmination of the Ashes, has not participated in competitive cricket since the final Ashes Test.
Luke Wright, the National Selector for the England Men’s team, commented: “With our selected squad, we’re confident in clinching the World Cup in India. The recent series win against the formidable New Zealand side highlights the depth and caliber of our white-ball players.”
Wright further noted, “Given the talent pool, we faced some challenging choices, leading to the exclusion of Jason Roy and the introduction of Harry Brook.”
Jofra Archer, who is on the mend, will accompany the team to India in a reserve capacity and will carry on with his rehabilitation process.
England’s World Cup Squad:
Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes.
