Delhi based Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capital has released four players for the upcoming season of the league. Among the four relased players, it also includes Nepal’s leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.
Along with Lamichhane, the Capitals released opener Jason Roy, wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey and Mohit Sharma.
IPL 2021 auction is likely to be held on February 11 and all the franchises were directed to submit the names of releases and retained players by January 20.
Sandeep Lamichhane was picked up by Delhi Capitals back in 2018, making him the first Nepali cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League. In that season, Lamichhane played the only last three matches, picking up 5 wickets.
In the following year, Lamichhane played six matches and picked up 8 wickets. However, Lamichhane failed to get a game last year. With three spinners in the squad, the Delhi based team decided to release the Nepalese international.
