An agreement has been reached to install floodlights at the under-construction ExtraTech Oval International Cricket Stadium in Tilottama Municipality, Rupandehi.
According to Vinod Kunwar, the director of ExtraTech Oval, five poles, each 30 meters high, will be installed. Each pole will be fitted with lights of 15,000-watt capacity. The work is set to begin within two weeks, and all installation tasks will be completed by the end of Poush (mid-January), after which the floodlights will be fully operational following a one-month testing period.
“The construction work of the stadium is progressing rapidly. Today, we have signed the agreement for the floodlights,” said Director Kunwar. “All the installation work will be completed by the end of Poush, and after a month of testing, the floodlights will be fully operational.”
He also informed that other construction activities are in full swing. “With the reduction in the impact of the monsoon, the process of transforming the ExtraTech Oval field into a stadium is moving ahead at a fast pace. Currently, the construction of the players’ changing room and VIP box is underway,” said Kunwar.
Driven by his passion for cricket, Kunwar is building an international cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 25,000 spectators in Tilottama, Rupandehi, with his personal investment. The stadium is steadily taking shape. It is also Nepal’s first and largest cricket stadium to be built with private investment.
Within nine months of its inception, the stadium, located on approximately 6 bighas of land in Purba Darkhaswa, Tilottama Ward No. 17, has already reached a playable condition.
